Adobo sa Dilaw Recipe

Adobo is one of the famous Filipino dishes. Most common ingredients for adobo is either chicken or pork meat. However, there are also vegetables that can be cooked as adobo like sitaw and kangkong.

Cooking adobo the usual way by using soy sauce, vinegar and pepper can be modified.

Adobo sa dilaw is one way to put twist on this Filipino dish. Why adobo sa dilaw? Simply turning the color of the usual adobo from brownish to yellowish.

Using turmeric and patis replace the soy sauce.

Adobo sa Dilaw Recipe


Ingredients:
adobo, chicken recipe, dinner, pinoy recipes, easy recipes,
  • 1/2 kilo pork or chicken
  • 2 cups potato, peeled and chunked (about 8 pcs)
  • 1 onion, minced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ground pepper
  • 2-3 pcs laurel leaves
  • 2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1-2 tbsps patis
  • 1-2 tbsp vinegar.
  • Cooking oil for sauteeing
  • thumb-sized ginger, minced (optional if using Chicken meat)

Directions:
  1. Saute onion, garlic (and ginger).
  2. Add chicken or pork meat, fish sauce, laurel leaves, ground pepper and turmeric powder.
  3. Continue sauteeing until meat turns light brown.
  4. Drop in potatoes and let it simmer until potatoes are already cooked.
  5. Add vinegar and simmer for another 2-3 minutes.
  6. Serve with hot rice.
Serving size: 3-4
